At a past TEDx Vero Beach event, John takes a tongue-in-cheek historical timeline of Vero Beach and connects the current success of VERO BEACH with its helping mentality. All cities, small and large alike, evolve from chaos to perfection because of the help they offer their less fortunate citizens…in the event we stop helping our brothers, we return to chaos. John E. Moore, III graduated from Vero Beach High School and earned his undergraduate degree in accounting, with highest honors, from the University of Notre Dame in 1982. Following work as a staff accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Dallas, Mr. Moore graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. During law school he served as President of the Student Bar Association and received the James C. Slaughter Award recognizing an outstanding graduate in the Class of 1986. Mr. Moore has served a variety of community organizations in Vero Beach. He has also served as Indian River County’s Affordable Housing Advocate and a member of the Affordable Housing Advisory Commission to the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners. His work in the community has been recognized with various community-wide service awards, including the Florida Bar President’s Award and the Florida Rural Legal Services Award for Pro Bono Service in the 19th Circuit. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
